We have seen a slight delay in email delivery this morning. My investigation shows a very high number of connections coming into our mail servers from the Internet trying to deliver email - much higher than we have seen in the past. Combined across our inbound email delivery systems, I would estimate we are seeing upwards of 1200-1500 concurrent connections. This is far higher than our normal rate of 300 connections, and higher than our normal peaks of ~650. While there have been some delays, no email has been lost or bounced. I was already in the process of doing some upgrades on some of our inbound mail servers which may alleviate some of this load and I'll endeavor to roll out this new hardware by mid-afternoon. Again, we are seeing slight delays in email delivery this morning but beyond that all email is flowing both in and out of our network.
