Everything.

I wanted to put together different types of lists.

What you see are the public ones.  There are some private ones already
in place with more coming for specific reasons and groups.  Mailman
can do this as well.

I want to also create some very specifically configured private lists.
Mailman could not do everything I wanted to do.

Mailman is dandy for many things, but it doesn't have everything that
can be done with LISTSERV.  Examples follow...

One small item: LISTERV is single sign-on to manage all of your lists,
Mailman doesn't come close to that.

multiple levels of access per list as well, from admin of the site
(me, Doug), to ownership of a list, to moderator of the list, to
editor of a list.

Mailman has 2 levels only.

I could go on and on, but just heading to the L-Soft website can give
you an idea of the control available.

I would have loved to saved the money, but the limitations were just
too much for me.
