This afternoon, while updating our SSL certificates for email, an error occured with many email clients returning back that the connection was not trusted. The connection itself was encrypted but the client software (Thunderbird for sure was issues errors) did not trust that the certificate was signed by a known authority. This could be an issue with an intermediate (trust) certificate and we will test this outside of production servers later today. We have used the same vendor since 2004 for our certificates and this is the first time we have ever had an issue such as this. I have reverted the certificates (which expire on Feb 17th, 2011) until this issue is resolved and doesn't cause another problem such as we just went through over the last hour. Sorry everyone!
