We had our ARIN allocation in Oct 2005, and I'm pretty sure I had 
something working for some services at that time. 

I still remember initial testing in the '90s running Cisco beta code
meant for a 2500, but I had shoehorned that onto a Cisco 2102 (which
was field upgraded to a 3102 with the flash DIMM kit).
