+1 there, thanks for the effort to keep historical data! :)  
one could probably rrdtool up some way to export/re-import data from cacti -> observium formatted rrd’s, but that may be a bit of effort, perhaps more than it’s worth.

observium could be a valuable ‘tag-along’ to cacti then, even if that remains the authoritative traffic data source, purely from a ‘get more useful data’ perspective. afaict, we’re not really monitoring much currently beyond port level traffic? things like fabric utilization, memory, cpu, port error counters, DOM levels, etc, could all be helpful and essentially automagic with observium.
