Here are the updates I received from Zayo since Wednesday afternoon.  All times are email time stamps.

4:57 pm: Technicians have been dispatched to the suspected damage area. At this time we do not have an ETA.

12:57 am: Crews are onsite and digging up cable. Documentation and crews believed this was a ducted cable, turns out to be direct buried cable. So now we are having to bring cable to the site immediately, which is a 4 hr drive. We have  a crew loading now and splicers are onsite and will be prepping in those 4 hours.

5:11 am: The crew is waiting on cable to arrive to site. The trench is opened up and they are prepping both sides. Cable should be on site in less than an hour and splicing should begin in 1 1/2 hours, with a total of 2 hours of splicing once it begins.

6:31 am: Crews are wrapping up the prepping of the cable and will begin splicing soon.

That’s in my neck of the woods. =)  I’ve forwarded this internally.

From Zayo

We are currently experiencing a fiber cut between Souix city IA and Alton IA. The damage appears to be construction related. OSP is already engaged and en route to the site of the cut.

Yes, it appears to be hit and miss all down the route. Mostly Ethernet Circuits?

If someone already has a ticket open it might help others.

Looks like MICE lost links to Nebraskalink, Stealth, Fibercomm.

Traffic is also strangely close to 1G...

Jay, so you’re seeing some traffic flow on the Omaha-Sioux City-Bigelow-Belle Plaine path?

If so, then it’s likely a config issue or a partial fiber cut.

I'd guess a config problem as connections are hit and miss in Nebraska (even within the same site)

Looking at the weathermap it seems like a number of the members further south have all dropped off but closer ones are still up, maybe it’s a transport problem South of Windom?

I see it’s affecting Premier/Fibernet also, and they’re on the MNVoIP remote but (I think) use the same transport into Minnesota.

Started between 14:15 and 14:20 by the graphs.

Backhoe season is here… good luck everyone,
